Humbly Humble

When you think of someone who is humble, do you think of someone that is strong or weak? To many they may see humility as a weakness, but to Jesus he made it the cornerstone of his character. Humbleness is freedom from pride, it is lowliness, meekness, modesty and mildness. That is what Jesus called us to be, humble - like himself. Being humble like Christ draws people to us as they were drawn to him. As a rule, people are not drawn to those who are prideful, boastful and arrogant. Your light of Christ shines brightest when your character is that of humbleness. Even though to the world it many come across as weak, don’t be afraid of being humble. To God it is a characteristic that he longs for us to have.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Luke 14:11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Proverbs 15:33 Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honor.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
